Nexen Air Clutch-Brake on a Stacking Machine

A building material plant used a conveyor to transport roofing materal one-by-one to be stacked on a pawl. Every time material is added, the pawl goes down. When 100 sheets are stacked on the pawl, they are transferred to the next conveyor.

The brake motor used was limited to only 20 cycles per minute. Every 4-5 sheets it had to be lowered to the next conveyor. This caused uneven stacking, short brake life, and many line process problems.

Nexen replaced their brake with an Air Champ Clutch-Brake and it has been running for two year without replacing the friction plate. High frequency (60cpm) made stacking of material neater and enabled labor and energy saving on the stacking process.
