Industrial Clutch Parts Ltd upgraded a 400 ton mechanical press.
The primary role of this press is to produce automotive body panels. There is a high level of pressure on the press to meet its production schedule. Key components of the press need to perform with a high degree of reliability.
HEAT DAMAGED PNEUMATIC CLUTCH / BRAKE
The pictures below show the removed pneumatic clutch / brake.
The customer wanted to replace the existing unit because it failed approximate every three months due to heat fatigue ( the above pictures show heat crazing in the metal plate surface ). The downtime and costs associated with replacing the clutch / brake so often prompted the customer to ask Industrial Clutch Parts Ltd if a better product was available.
EXISTING PNEUMATIC UNIT IS REPLACED BY GOIZPER HYDRAULIC CLUTCH / BRAKE
Industrial Clutch Parts proposed Goizper hydraulic clutch / brake and hydraulic power pack to solve the problem of heat failure. Oil wet operation of the hydraulic design is inherently effective in the way it removes heat energy from the clutch brake. The new hydraulic system has a four times greater heat transfer than the old pneumatic clutch / brake.
 Further pictures show the flywheel prior to the Goizper hydraulic clutch / brake installation and the initial mounting stages of the new clutch/brake. The multiple plates of the unit can be clearly seen.
The clutch cover incorporates a labyrinth seal for efficient passage of oil to exit the unit.
Final pictures show the completed installation and Goizper safety valve supplied as part of the upgrade and the hydraulic power pack completing the installation.
CONCLUSION OF UPGRADE
The customer is now enjoying longer service life from the clutch / brake and is even increasing the work load on the press.
